FAQ

Can I use the marine starting battery to start the car engine?

No. Please DO NOT use it as a starter battery for any type of vehicle, suchas cars, motorbikes, tractors, etc.

For better using the battery, here are some safety precautions to notice:

1. Do not use this battery as a starter battery for any type of vehicle, such as cars, motorcycles, trucks, etc.

2. This lithium cranking battery is not suitable for engines (such as outboard motors) that use a charging coil instead of an alternator.

3. When used in marine starting equipment (such as fuel outboard engines) or in environments with vibration, ensure the battery is securely mounted. However, it should not be used in areas with intense vibrations, such as tractors.

4. When using with outboard engines or in shaking environments, make sure to securely fasten the battery to prevent damage from movement.

5. Position the battery closer to the outboard motor, as different cable lengths may cause a certain amount of voltage loss, typically between 3% and 10%. If the voltage drop caused by the cable exceeds this range, the total cable length should be reduced.

6. The 12V 20Ah marine cranking & 12V 140Ah Dual Purpose battery supports an IP67 protection rating. To avoid potential issues, do not fully submerge it in bilge water. To prevent parts of the battery from being exposed to water, it is recommended to install the battery in a waterproof battery container and/or place it in an elevated position.

Can this lithium marine starting battery start my fuel outboard motor?

Please ensure that your fuel outboard motor meets the following conditions when selecting a battery:

  1. Verify that the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) required by your fuel outboard motor is less than the battery's CCA value of 650A.
  2. If your fuel outboard motor has an alternator, please ensure that the alternator's output current is less than the battery's maximum supported charging current of 80A.

What should I do when I receive the marine starter battery?

When you receive your battery, please note that it may have a low State of Charge (SOC) due to transportation and storage. For optimal performance, we recommend charging the battery immediately to avoid over-discharge.

Fully charge the battery with battery charger for LiFePO4 lithium  before first use. Battery voltage lower than 11.5V will not be able to start motors.

The duration of a single start cannot exceed 3 seconds.When the primary ignition fails, wait for 15 seconds beforerestarting.If the motor still cannot be started after three ignitions, checkfor other causes and wait 5 minutes before igniting again.

Can I connect the marine cranking battery in sereis or parallel?

Yes, you can connect the best marine starting battery in sereis and parallel. But here are some limitations to follow:

1. For Starting and Deep Cycle:

Support connecting up to 4 identical batteries in parallel for up to:12V(12.8V) 560Ah battery system.

Note: It can be only connected in parallel instead of series connection.

2. For ONLY Energy Storage

Support connecting up to 16 identical batteries for up to:4 in series as 48V (51.2V) battery system or 4 in parallel as 560Ah battery system.

To connect in series or parallel, batteries should meet the below conditions:

a. identical batteries with the same battery capacity (Ah) and BMS (A);

b. from the same brand (as lithium battery from different brands has their special BMS);

c. purchased in near time (within one month).

How many CCA do I need to start my outboard motor?

You need at least the CCA your outboard’s manual specifies (or higher). If your spec is MCA, match MCA instead.

LiTime’s lineup covers small outboards up to 225Hp with options from 800–1300 CCA/MCA.

・Many setups fit the 12V 20Ah lithium Marine Starting battery (800 CCA / 810 MCA).

・ If you want more margin or have a bigger engine/electronics load, choose the 12V 165Ah Dual Purpose (1200 CCA / 1300 MCA).
