Can I Use Marine Trolling Motor Battery in Electric Outboard Motor?

Normally, it's not recommended to use a battery designed for a trolling motor in an electric outboard motor since the surge discharge current might not be sufficient. Outboard motors often require higher power for acceleration and sustained operation, which can lead to higher surge currents that trolling motor batteries may not handle well.

If you’re planning to use an electric outboard motor, it’s best to invest in a battery specifically designed for such applications like LiTime Outboard Motor Batteries. These batteries are built to handle the high power requirements and ensure optimal performance and safety.

What to do when receive the battery?

Please charge the battery first after receiving it. This will ensure that the battery can be turned on and the Bluetooth connection is established.

Our Bluetooth batteries are delivered in the off state, the virtual voltage of the battery terminal is 3V-5V, this is a normal phenomenon, just use the AC-DC lithium battery charger or MPPT solar charge controller to charge the battery and turn on the battery, it can be used normally.

If you intend to store the battery for an extended period without use, we recommend charging it to a SOC of 30% to 50% and conducting maintenance every three months. These measures will help preserve its functionality and performance in the long run.

How do I monitor the battery status?

This 12V lithium battery, equipped with an integrated Bluetooth module, enables convenient monitoring of the battery status using your smartphone through the LiTime App.

Can I use this to start my car/boat engine?

No. LiTime LiFePO4 lithium trolling motor batteries are not intended to be used as starting batteries but energy storage, please do not use them to start any devices.

Wow ! I never would imagined how excited I would become with a boat battery ! My old lead acid died and a friend told me about a fellow fisherman, Gary Lippa , who was knowledgeable about Lithium Batteries I called Gary and discussed my situation.
