An inverter is a device that converts direct current into alternating current, and an inverter charger not only has the function of an inverter, but also has the functions of a charger and UPS, which can be used as an emergency power source when off grid.
Charging Mode: Convert external alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC) to charge the battery;
Inverter Mode: Convert the direct current (DC) in the battery into alternating current (AC) and output it for the load to operate;
UPS Function: Millisecond level intelligent switching can ensure the switching between mains power and battery power about 10ms, ensuring the continuous operation of precision equipment.
When discharging, a battery needs to be connected, and when charging, AC power such as shore power, generator, and grid needs to be connected.
Great product, easy install. Everything went as planned.
So far so good
Just got it installed, very straightforward and easy with the Grand Design inverter prewire. Waiting for my 1/0 cables but have it running with 4 gauge for now. Automatically transfers from Grid AC to inverter AC & back. Will post update once I do more large load testing & install bus bars & clean up wiring.
Installed in my RV that runs off 50 Amp input. I paired this with 400 Ah lithium battery bank from a pair of LiTime 200 Ah Plus batteries.
Pros: price, simple install if you know what you're doing, powerful enough to run one A/C unit, remote panel, customer support is great.
Cons: fan can get loud but installed in a storage bay so I don't hear it, can only connect to one leg of power in 50A RV but would work great in 30A RV, no way of monitoring via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
This is a huge, heavy device. I was mounting it under my nav desk and struggled, lying on my side to get it mounted. That done, I had buggered up the 120v cabling on the side, so it had to come off again and those connections had to all be redone. After installation, the inverter works OK, but my water pump (a standard jabsco pump) causes the fans to kick on at max speed for some reason, and the cabin lights start dimming, then getting brighter as the pump kicks off and on. This is all while plugged into shore power. With two 230Ah batteries and 120 volts connected, why all the racket from the fans and dimming lights just for the water pump? I’m a bit discouraged here.
This unit works great for me and my application. I like that I can plug in shore power to it and let the unit charge my batteries.
