At LiTime, we love sharing real user experiences from the field. Below is the story from Misti, who lives, works, and travels out of her rig while building a more dependable setup for remote work on the road. After upgrading from portable power stations and a larger Starlink setup, she built an onboard power system designed to keep her connected and powered up wherever she roams.

Building a Setup That Actually Works on the Road

Hi, I am Misti. I live, work, and travel out of my rig, and for years I have been chasing the perfect setup for working remotely on the road. In the past, I used the big, clunky Starlink and carried it around everywhere. I also relied on portable power stations instead of having a true onboard power system. Over time, I upgraded a lot of things and installed onboard power, including 100 amp hours of battery capacity, a 1,000-watt inverter, and a cleaner overall setup. More recently, I added the Starlink Mini to my roof rack, and that has made the whole system even easier to use.

Why Reliable Power Became So Important

For me, the real issue was never just having access to power. It was whether the system could reliably support the kind of work and life I do every day from the road. I had tried everything from mobile hotspots to campground Wi-Fi and signal-dependent strategies, but none of it was reliable or sustainable for serious remote work.

As a digital nomad, I needed something dependable, compact, and reasonably priced. That is why the LiTime 100Ah Mini Battery became such an important part of my build. It is compact enough for my rig, but still powerful enough to support my entire remote office setup, including my laptop, fridge, camera gear, and more.

A Power System Built Around Daily Use

Power distribution in my rig runs through a fused circuit panel, allowing me to cleanly and safely connect everything from my inverter to my fridge, lights, and fans. I paired that with a 1000W pure sine wave inverter, which gives me AC power from my 12V battery system and handles my sensitive electronics quietly and efficiently.

For charging, I use a 40A DC-to-DC charger with built-in MPPT, so the system can charge from the alternator while I’m driving and switch seamlessly to solar input when I’m parked. That means I can keep the battery topped off no matter where I am.

Power That Supports the Lifestyle

What LiTime really gives me is not just electricity, but confidence in the system behind my daily routine. Reliable power stays in the background and lets everything else stay in the foreground—my work, my travels, and the places I want to keep exploring.

That is also why I plan to install a second 100Ah LiTime battery soon, bringing the system up to 200 amp hours. Once a power system becomes part of your day-to-day life on the road, you realize that dependable energy is not an extra. It is the foundation that makes mobile work and travel truly possible.
