More than two decades ago, Amunches —which means “travelers” in Mapuche, the language of the native peoples of Patagonia— was born as a simple yet powerful dream: to travel across the Americas from south to north.
What started as a one-year journey in a small but sturdy Land Rover turned into more than five and a half years on the road until we reached Alaska, with our daughter Inti still in the womb.
And together, we transformed a classic school bus into our home, school, studio, and traveling gallery: a vehicle that is, at the same time, a tool for living, a space for social creation, and a platform for sharing stories.
Today, after more than two decades of nomadic life, our family was completed with Aurora, our four-legged companion, who now joins us in every kilometer of the journey.
Traveling to Connect: Our Work in Remote Communities
For many years now, Amunches has been about more than just traveling — it’s about connecting. We visit small towns and remote communities, especially rural and Indigenous ones, because we believe they preserve a rich worldview when it comes to caring for the planet, living in community, and relating to nature.
Along the way, we published a photography and travel stories book, and we produce documentaries and audiovisual content to keep sharing these experiences, connecting worlds and bringing forward stories that might otherwise remain unseen.
But for all of this to be possible, one thing is essential: reliable energy.
Renewing Our Energy After So Many Years on the Road
After so many years of nomadic life, our bus needed a major upgrade. Our old electrical system could no longer support the real demands of our current lifestyle:
- Cameras, drones, and computers
- Photo and video editing
- Interior and exterior lighting
- Internet connection and educational tools, for our daughter’s education, researching places to visit, working on social media, staying connected, and even watching movies or having family movie nights
- Refrigeration, cooking, and everyday off-grid life
We needed a real change. And that’s when LiTime arrived.

The installation felt like a true “energy surgery”: adapting the new system to the old one required adjustments, but the result gave us something we hadn’t felt in years — peace of mind.

Our bus, which was already our home and school, now has an energy core that truly matches our current lifestyle and our social work.
LiTime in Our Real Life (Not in Theory)
Today, LiTime powers absolutely everything we do:
- A fridge running daily
- Full interior and exterior lighting system (string lights included)
- Laptops, iPads, cameras, drones, and routers
- Power tools for small repairs
- Appliances we once thought impossible: vacuum cleaner, essential oil diffuser, Dyson hot/cold air purifier, air fryer, cold press juicer
And although it’s not very common in nomadic life, every now and then we even use a hair dryer and a clothes iron — because sometimes, the occasion calls for it.
We often travel for many days without access to the electrical grid, through deserts, mountains, jungles, or remote beaches.
And for the first time in a long while, we’ve stopped worrying about surprises like dead batteries.
No more silent anxiety.
We simply live.
