My name is Mike Keane, and I’ve been fishing since I was about eight years old, when my uncle first taught me how to stream fish. What drew me in was the challenge—fishing always felt like solving a puzzle, learning from every trip and figuring out what the fish wanted.
As I got older, I introduced my wife and children to fishing too. Once I bought a boat, it became more than just fishing: it gave us more opportunities to spend time together on the water, relax, enjoy the scenery, and watch the sunset.

Why I Needed a More Reliable Marine Battery
Because I work in technology, I naturally became interested in boat rigging and modern fishing electronics. But my old 12V lead-acid cranking battery was beginning to fail and was becoming unreliable for both starting the engine and powering the electronics I had added to the boat.
That was what pushed me to start looking at lithium.
Why I Chose LiTime
When I researched marine lithium batteries, I kept hearing that paying more meant getting better warranties and better customer service. Before buying anything, I contacted LiTime directly with my questions.
I never waited more than 24 hours for a response, and the support I received was thorough and helpful. Because I boat in a cold climate, I ultimately chose the LiTime 12V 140Ah Dual Purpose Self-Heated Cranking Battery.

The Real Test Came a Year Later
After about a year, I noticed that the battery’s self-heating function had stopped working, even though the battery itself was otherwise operating normally. Since self-heating was important for the way I use my boat, I contacted LiTime Support and shared the troubleshooting I had already done.
LiTime determined that the battery should go through the RMA process. Because that first-generation model was no longer being produced, they provided a return label, refunded the battery in full, and allowed me to move to the newer 12V 165Ah Dual Purpose Self-Heated Cranking Battery.

Reliable Support Matters as Much as Reliable Power
What stood out to me was how straightforward the process was.
I originally chose LiTime because I wanted a practical lithium solution for my boat. But the warranty experience showed me something else: reliability is also about what happens when a customer actually needs help.
For me, that matters because boating is about much more than equipment. It is about being able to get back on the water, keep learning, spend time with my family, and enjoy the moments that make fishing worth coming back to.
That is where Life & Discovery feels real to me—reliable power and support in the background, and more time for the experiences that brought me onto the water in the first place.
