What are the difference between trolling motor batteries and electric outboard motor batteries?
LiTime electric outboard motor batteries are versatile, being suitable for both electric outboards and trolling motors.Conversely, LiTime trolling motor batteries are engineered specifically for trolling motors and are not suitable for electric outboards.
Electric outboard motor batteries must cater to higher current demands and more dynamic power requirements. These batteries are designed to deliver bursts of high power necessary for propulsion and rapid acceleration, in addition to sustaining prolonged periods of operation. LiTime 36V 100Ah OBM lithium marine battery support 500A/1s surge discharge current, which ensures the battery able to withstand high current at start-up. Moreover, it able to discharge at 1.2 time the norminal current for 3 minutes, which much longer than those trolling motor batteries, sustaining prolonged periods of operation.

Is this a dual purpose battery in that it performs as a starting/cranking battery but also as a deep cycle battery for electronics?
No, this battery is not a dual purpose battery and can't be used as a stater battery. It is a deep cycle battery specifically for electric outboards. Will this battery avoid supplying too much voltage, current, or heat to the motor?
All LiTime batteries, including this item, are provide 5 basic protections: overheat, overcurrent, overcharge, overdischarge, and short circuit protections. More than that, with LiTime newly upgraded 100A BMS, this battery provides more than 20+ protections (including the above 5 basic protections): low-temp cut-off protection, auto-recovery after overload protection (30s), pre-charge function, moisture and salt-spray resistance.
How long can this battery power my electric outboard motor?
Runtime depends on your motor’s power draw. For example:
- A 2000W motor (~55A draw) can run for ~1.8 hours at full throttle.
- Lower speeds significantly extend runtime.
I replaced my 3 lead trolling motor batteries and a 4 bank charger with a single Litime36V battery and charger. Now the back of my boat doesn’t sit as deep in the water. I have gone fishing once so far and I’m highly impressed. I fished 7 hrs and was on the trolling motor hard giving the new battery a good workout. When I got home my battery was still at 91% by the way I love the Bluetooth connection to monitor my battery. So I can get a mi” minimum of 2 trips before needing to charge the battery.. I highly recommend the Litime battery both for the price and performance.
Bought this battery but it was way too big for my compartment on my boat. Thing is a power horse
Have not used it yet. Had to go to the us to buy this 12v 100ah not available in Canada only the 50ah. 63lbs pounds is ultra light for a batterY with this output. Very excited to no longer have battery anxiety when using the trolling motor all day.make sure you really measure for spacing for this battery although lighter and smaller then 3 12v in series it has a very big single footprint. This thing is going to be amazing
I am a licensed marine installer. These batteries have been fantastic. No issues.
So far so good. The weight of this 1 battery is 33-40% the weight of the (2) 12V deep cycles it was replacing. The size is about the same as 3 batteries. Happy with my purchase and will recommend LiTime to anyone who asks.
I’m amazed at the power and durability of this battery. I use my Ultrex trolling motor all day and still have 80% left over with no reduction in power or speed.
Fished 6hrs with it for the first time and still had 97% I was shocked at how much percentage I still had. They charge fast and hold a charge for hours and hours
The 36V 100Ah LiTime battery is a great solution for my boat's trolling motor battery. Prior, there were 3 12V Group 31 lead acid batteries which took up more room and added almost 120# more to the boat. Reducing that much weight from the stern of the boat changed the performance and how the boat sits in the water. I can run the trolling motor hard all day and still have power to spare which was not the case before with the 3 lead acid batteries.
