What are the benefits of upgrading to lithium wheelchair mobility scooter battery?

Lithium batteries are lighter, which helps reduce the overall weight of electric vehicles, improving energy efficiency and acceleration performance. Supports 4P4S, meeting the needs for long-range mileage.

The BMS has a self-recovery protection function, meaning that after protection is triggered, you do not need to disconnect and reconnect the load, making it more convenient for using.

What should I pay attention to before installing?

3. Confirm whether the charger is compatible with lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries. If not, it needs to be replaced with a LiFePO4 charger.

Can I connect the battery in series or parallel?

Yes. LiTime 12V 45Ah lithium battery supports up to 4 in parallel and 4 in series (Max. 4P4S) to form a 51.2V 180Ah battery system with 9216Wh of energy and a max. load power of 9216W. In addition to wheelchair and mobility scooter, it can also be used in campers, backup power, trolling motors (20-30 lb) and off-grid systems.

To connect in series or parallel, batteries should meet the below conditions:

a. identical batteries with the same battery capacity (Ah) and BMS (A);

b. from the same brand (as lithium battery from different brands has their special BMS);

c. purchased in near time (within one month).

Great replacement for lead acid

While more expensive than the lead acid batteries that fit my scooter, I love these LiFePo4 batteries so far. They are lighter (less than half the weight of lead acid), have a longer lifespan, deeper depth of discharge and longer warranty. They require a different charger (one for LFP batteries) than lead acid, with an XLR adaptor if you want to charge in the scooter as normal.

LiTime 45Ah battery

I have been using the battery for remote Amateur Radio operations for POTA, Parks On The Air. The usage has averaged around 15Ah usage per outing. Battery has been working well and sits around 13.1V during the operation. One thing I noticed is after complete charge the sitting voltage is around 12.8v which looks like a half charged LiFe battery. But after putting a load on the battery the voltage goes up to over 13v. Which is as it should be. Great battery.

Extended time between charging

I bought these for my power wheelchair. I had sealed lead acid AGM batteries before and had replaced them with same before. Those would last less than a year and over time would need more frequent charging, witch is contributing to decreased life.
So after some experience with LifeP04 batteries on another device I own, I decided to upgrade my power chair to the newer tech in batteries.
I ordered 2 of the LiTime group U1 batteries. I received them right away. I followed the included instructions and charged each battery fully before putting them in my chair.
Two things that are a bonus is they much lighter weight and also 45ah vs the old 32ah batteries I had
They were physically the right size and would fit right into the chair, but the battery terminals were different and not a direct fit for my wiring harness. But all I had to do was but some "L" brass connectors to bolt on the battery terminals to give me the upright connection needed for my wiring harness.

Everything went smooth and was installed and running it less than 30 minutes.
I have ran with the LiTme batteries for 3 days now and they still show full charge on the joystick controller. Not sure that will be accurate with new type battery or not.
I'm going out to doctors tomorrow, so I charging back to full with my LifeP04 charger before I go out.
But after that I will do a complete test on longevity of charge .
The charger I use now is external using the XLR port on the joystick controller.
On my Invacare chair there is a built in charger, but it is for the lead acid batteries. I do not use it for charging. But I think I could use it in an emergency if I was out of house and for some reason the battery went too low to climb the ramp back into my van :)

Update:
After the full charge, I have ran my powerchair for 7 days without needing to recharge. My year old AGM sealed batteries would last at most 1 1/2 days before controller blinking red battery low warning.
So I say I'm thrilled with the upgrade to LiFeP04 batteries.
