What type of alternator is this DC to DC on board battery charger compatible with?
This battery charger is designed to work with both conventional and smart alternators. However, because conventional alternators maintain a consistent voltage during charging, while smart alternators adjust their charging output based on operating conditions, it is necessary to connect the charger to the smart alternator using the Signal cable provided with the package through the Vehicle Ignition Port.
What types of battery does the charger support?
It's suitable for 12V Lithium, Gel, AGM, and Calcium batteries. This charger enables the batteries to reach a full 100% charge. Additionally, it has the capability to jump start lithium batteries that have become discharged to a low voltage.
How do I know if the charger is working properly?
To check if the charger is working properly:
- Make sure the fault LED indicator is off — this means the charger is working normally.
- If the fault LED indicator is on, identify the cause of the fault and resolve the issue (e.g. voltage, polarity, temperature, or short circuit).
Is the charger safe to use in harsh weather conditions?
This charger has a durable, rugged design suitable for moderate outdoor environments. However, avoid exposure to extreme weather conditions like heavy rain or snow, as it is not fully waterproof.
