What are the difference between trolling motor batteries and electric outboard motor batteries?

Is this a dual purpose battery in that it performs as a starting/cranking battery but also as a deep cycle battery for electronics?
No, this 12V 100Ah OBM lithium battery is not a dual purpose battery and can't be used as a stater battery. It is a deep cycle battery specifically for electric outboards. You can select the cranking/ starting battery or dual purpose battery based on your need.
Will this 12V 100Ah outboard motor battery avoid supplying too much voltage, current, or heat to the motor?
All LiTime batteries, including this item, are provide 5 basic protections: overheat, overcurrent, overcharge, overdischarge, and short circuit protections. More than that, with LiTime newly upgraded 100A BMS, this 12V 100Ah battery for electric outboard motor provides more than 20+ protections (including the above 5 basic protections): low-temp cut-off protection, auto-recovery after overload protection (30s), pre-charge function, moisture and salt-spray resistance.

I bought two of these for my RV. I needed the high current output to start my generator. I replaced two lead acid batteries. These are incredible. Its definitely true that that the Lithium batteries have true 100AH capacity while the lead acid have roughly half. I tried driving these batteries down to 10AH (based on the app) and they still started my onan 4000 generator easily. Now, I can run my inverter and brew coffee without starting the generator and waking everyone up. These are fantastic. I'd highly recommend. The app is easy to use too. It allowed me to create my "system". Very good.
Work great for my trolling motor
I got Watt Cycle 12v 120ah with bluetooth first then I got LiTime one. Both came with bluetooth but one came on and others was off. So when I got Li Time battery, I checked the voltage. It was 3.24v. I thought it was defective then I send email to technical support. Technical support (Summer) helped me to understand how it works. LiFePo4 batteries with Bluetooth are getting popular but its confusing unless the manual explain each detail. So they ship with bluetooth off (3v ~ 4V). So you need to charge the battery first, get app on your phone, then turn the batterys Bluetooth on with app. Then you see the battery has 13v. (If not then go to "Manage and Control battery" page and turn the Discharge switch" on.) After that everything was ok.
- At 2025/02, Quick Start Guide doesnt explain about using App to turn on "the Discharge Switch". But YouTube does.
Also my app for iPhone hidden the 3 line at bottom (control icon) behind the orange bar and I can see only 1 line. (Thats the control icon you need to click to go to the page to turn the Discharge switch on or off. My LiTime app version is v1.3.5). - Look for Li Time app on YouTube -
I wish the app shows each battery cells voltage.
If you don't have knowledge about batteries enough, or you dont know how to handle Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, Goal Zeros or Jackerys Portable Power Station maybe a good choice. But if you can handle them, they are a lot cheaper than Portable Power Station and better for long time to use. (Battery it self is small but with charger, power converter and cables, they are not portable. But good for the solar system or back up for blackout at home use ). I highly recommend Battery (BMS) with bluetooth.
