    This battery charger is designed to work with both conventional and smart alternators. However, because conventional alternators maintain a consistent voltage during charging, while smart alternators adjust their charging output based on operating conditions, it is necessary to connect the charger to the smart alternator using the IGN Signal Wire provided with the package through the Vehicle Ignition Port.

    Good charger

    Works great and was a fairly easy install. It took longer to get it from the company than my Litime batteries did from Amazon. Even with my military discount it was a little more expensive than some of the other brands on Amazon, even though they appear to be identical.

    Defective product, No support available, for a non working new unit

    Installed the 40 amp Dc to Dc with MPPT in our trailer, using 6 AIG cable from the truck engine to the rear bumper, and the same 6 gauge for the trailer wiring using the connectors provided. Hooked it up to my 2 LiTme 100 ah lithium batteries, and then connected to my solar panel input. Installed 60 amp breaker on the truck wiring, a 50 amp breaker for the wire to the batteries, and a 30 amp breaker on my solar input line. Was able to select the battery type, but noting else works. Had solar panels sending out 20 - 22 volts but nothing on the unit indicating solar coming in. The “on” light never illuminated, just the “LI” light for battery type. Checked continuity on all wires, and everything is good. Called customer support, and got no answer. Sent an email over 30 hours ago, and still no response. Made 3 more calls this evening, after 8PM EDT, to be within the posted customer support hours, and was disconnected after 1 minute of listening to music each time. A defective product from a company that you cannot contact. What a ridiculous way to do business. I thought I had chosen a better company, but will try Renogy or Victron to see if I can get a product that works. It looks like wasted money dealing with LiTime.
